Last Sunday, I began my week with a girl’s day out with my mother and sister to see the Confessions of a Shopaholic movie. After reading the first few books in Sophia Kinsella’s series of the same namesake, I couldn’t wait to see how Rebecca Bloomfield would take on the big screen. I was not disappointed. The story was very predictable yet still enjoyable. While the books are almost always better than the film versions, the movie still seemed to capture the essence of a fashionista whos's in way over her head when it comes to credit card debt. In today’s economic climate, the character was probably more relatable than she may have been in recent years. Her quirky nature and crazy couture made me smile and definitely started my week out right. On a level of 1 to 5 for fabulousness – I’d give this film at least 4 stars for reminding us that it’s okay to enjoy the finer things in life (in moderation of course) but not to forget about what really matters.
On Friday, my dear hubby asked if I wanted to go to the movies. In a heartbeat, I jumped at the offer and started to check out movie times. We decided to see the buzz worthy film, Slumdog Millionaire. It was amazing. On a totally different level than last week’s film experience but this story left me feeling warm and fuzzy and really realizing that everything happens for a reason. Like pieces of a puzzle, the story seemed to flow together and the cinematography was superb. The music was also very unique and added to the overall vibe of the film. While my husband was just happy to get the movie popcorn, I was super psyched to see such five-star fabulous film on the big screen.
Movies are a great way to escape from reality for a short time. While money may be tight for entertainment these days, the cinema remains a fairly inexpensive evening (or afternoon) out that can do wonders for the psyche. Not sure what we'll see next but I'm sure it will have some element of fabulous to it.
Until next time…
Yours truly,
The Fabulous KT
