Need some time to unwind...

It’s been another busy week for this fabulous girl -- lots of working hard and new this week a little physical therapy. Since about April, my left knee has been a major pain. Everyday I’d come home and have an aching that I tried to just work through. The last few weeks though, the pain had gotten worse and the knees had both started to swell. I looked like I had elephant knees. Anyway, I headed to the doctor last week and was diagnosed with tendonitis of the knee. I started some anti-inflammatorys and Tuesday went to my first ever PT appointment. Mostly we do a lot of stretches and strength building exercises with the ultimate goal to build up the muscles around my knee so my tendons don’t have to do all the work. I also have had two of these awesome heat-electric stimulus treatments that are heaven. Even though it’s only been a few days, I can honestly feel a difference. I’m going to stick to the work-out/stretch plan and hopefully, my legs will quickly return to their normal selves very soon.

As fall begins, it also marks the beginning of a new book group year. This year, we are starting with The Memory Keeper’s Daughter with a discussion scheduled for next Thursday. I’ve started a few chapters and am really intrigued. The basic story so far, after being forced to delivery his own baby in a snowstorm, a doctor makes a choice that will change the course of everyone involved lives’. After one healthy baby boy, his wife gives birth to another baby – a slight girl with Down syndrome. While his wife is still sedated from the birth, the doctor hands the baby off to a nurse and tells her to drop it off at a home. He tells his wife, the baby has died. The nurse has just left the invalid home and still has the baby in tow. I can’t imagine someone doing something like this and think the book will be filled with lots of interesting discussion material and food for thought. Has anyone else read this book yet? Your thoughts?

In addition to book group and therapy, I am also busy planning for my BFFs shower and bachelorette party. So far, it looks like we’ve got things in order for the shower – place has been reserved, cake ordered, responses starting to come in, etc. The bachelorette is still in the works but I’m sure whatever we do it will be a fun night. I’m definitely looking forward to some time away from work and with my bestie. She had another shower given by her future in-laws last week and it was a blast. Hopefully mine will compare. This is going to be the year of weddings for me, after my BFF’s wedding in October, its time to switch gears and focus on my little sis and her big day in June. I’ve only been in one other wedding a few years back so now I’m getting my turn at playing the dutiful bridesmaid. It’s actually a lot less stressful than being the bride  These are the moments that keep me sane in the craziness that is my life. To end this long and rambling post, a quote from one of my favorite musicians, Mr. Dave Matthews… “What I want is what I've not got, and what I need is all around me.”

Until next time,
Fabulous KT
