I have to be honest, Monday has never been my favorite day of the week but I’m trying to stay positive. In fact, I’m even wearing a pretty dress to hopefully make me smile more on this cold but sunny day. This weekend was another busy one with birthday fun on Friday, family time on Saturday and more home renovation on Sunday.
On Friday, I started my weekend off with a great birthday dinner for my sister-in-law. She is a great person who happens to be married to my hubby’s older bro. We are often the “odd” ones out in our husband’s family as we both are fairly opinionated and normal. Yes, being normal in the T clan makes you an oddity. (We think her husband and my brother were switched at birth or adopted as they are SOOO different than the other brother and sister and MIL.) She has three children and doesn’t get to go out on her own as much as she’d like. She, myself and four of her girlfriends decided to make a girls night including dinner and then some dancing at a local establishment. Dinner was fabulous at one of my favorite local restaurants. I tried a new dish and was so happy I did. The Pasta ala PKs included penne pasta with a light pink sauce, broiled scallops and shrimp. Yummy!!! We then headed out for a few drinks and lots of laughs. Even though I debated staying home and lounging in my sweats, I was definitely glad I decided to suck it up and get out of the house.
Bright and early on Saturday, I met my parents at a nearby school for an indoor walk supporting the American Heart Association. The area has a big outdoor even in a few weeks but also sponsors a number of smaller events leading up. We walked along the indoor track, checked out the health fair and even enjoyed a healthy snack. After the walk, my mom and I headed to a bridal store to get her mother-of-the-bride dress for my sister’s wedding in June. She had tried it on earlier but wanted to get another opinion before making the purchase. The dress was beautiful and Mom looked great. She’ll have to have some alterations as the dress is a little big. But once it is fitted to her, it is going to be fabulous! We headed back and stopped at my grandparents for a quick lunch and short visit. After that, a short trip to one of my favorite stores, Marshalls, for some bargain hunting and then home for the day. My hubby and I then rented Couples Retreat, lounged on the couch and make it an early night.
On Sunday, we started yet another home project – turning an upstairs loft into a bedroom. The project basically entails taking a half-wall down and adding a full wall, door, new paint and new carpet. As I’ve mentioned before, my hubby is handy so it definitely helps us when it comes to projects like this. We spent the day buying supplies, clearing out the room and beginning the first stage of demolition. I’ll be sure to post some pictures of the project as it goes along.
I’m posting a second post today to show the finished paint project in the kitchen. The before was basically a white wall boring space. The after (hopefully) a warm and inviting nook for lots of yummy meals and family time.
Until next time,
Fabulous KT
